??Full Moon Paddlers please arrive between 6Pm and 6:15 to take care of payment and liability waiver, get adjusted for your paddle and to collect your rental equipment! Paddle begins at 6:30 PM please wear shoes that are easy to take off and that you don't mind getting wet! You are welcome to bring a soft cooler with your own preference of hydration! Come for a night of Full Moon Bliss! We will have a "BOARD" meeting to get to know everyone. Paddle in the moon light with lanterns, with an option of 1 hour of beginner SUP Yoga. Watch the moon rise up to full glory.
FULL STURGEON MOON
Some Native American tribes called the August Moon the “Sturgeon Moon” because they knew that the sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain were most readily caught during this Full Moon. They also called August’s Moon the “Full Green Corn Moon.”
THE HARVEST MOONThe Full Moon nearest the autumnal equinox is named the Harvest Moon since, during this month, the Moon helps the harvest by providing more light at the right time than other Full Moons do. Learn more in our article, “Shine On, Harvest Moon.”
In years when the Harvest Moon falls in October, the September full Moon is usually known as the Full Corn Moon because it traditionally corresponds with the time of harvesting corn. It is also called the Barley Moon because this is the time to harvest and thresh the ripened barley.
