The Writers’ Colony at Dairy Hollow proudly presents Ann Kathryn Kelly as our featured reader at October's Poetluck, 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 17th. Ann will be reading her essay "The Weight of Oars" published in Barren Magazine. "The Weight of Oars" is an excerpt of the medical memoir Ann is writing. For 40 years, an undiagnosed tumor bled in Ann's brain and controlled who she had been all her life. She was finally freed from its grasp after a dangerous daylong surgery. Ann lives and writes in New Hampshire’s Seacoast region. When Ann is not working on her memoir, she volunteers with a nonprofit where she leads writing workshops for community members living with brain injury. Ann's essays have also appeared in The Coachella Review, the tiny journal, Under the Gum Tree, and WOW! Women on Writing, to name a few. Poetluck is the third Thursday of every month. It starts at 6:30 p.m. with a potluck dinner. Readings start at 7:15 p.m. Local writers may sign up to share their work for up to five minutes following readings by the featured writer(s) and are randomly drawn to read according to time. Readings may be poems, prose, or songs. Poetluck is a supportive environment: the perfect setting to premiere new work. Bring a dish to share and join us for an enjoyable evening.
