Berryville is nestled in the heart of the Ozarks and is the county seat of Carroll County which is rich in history and heritage. Settlers were here as early as the 1820's, and many of their descendants remain today. Of course, the Cherokee and Osage Indians were here long before that. Carroll County was named in honor of Charles Carroll, a wealthy American Patriot, and one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. He died November 14, 1832, the last of the historic signers.
